Mrs. Amanda Fields (She/Her), LCSW, CAS
I’m from the Oregon coast and lived in Denver for 20 years. I recently moved to Castle Rock, CO. While I miss the ocean, I do not miss all the rain and frizzy hair. I enjoy being in nature, soaking up the Colorado sun, spending time with my three spirited dogs, hiking with my husband, trying new restaurants with friends and going to as many concerts as possible.
As a child I experienced developmental trauma, tried to be perfect, had tons of anxiety and was very critical of myself. I worked hard chasing approval of others and exhausted myself. With the help of therapy, I realized that I needed to improve the relationship I had with myself, slow down and learn how to “be” instead of all the “doing”. I decided to help others with similar issues.
I graduated from the University of Denver (DU) Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) with an Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) Certificate in 2007. I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and certified addictions specialist (CAS). I worked 2 years at Shiloh Home as a therapist for juvenile sex offenders and 15 years as a therapist at Denver Health. I was a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind and fostered several dogs through the years. I have been an adjunct professor at DU GSSW and am also a full time therapist treating co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders for clients ages 12 and up in Colorado. With over 18 years of experience, my career has been focused on working with traumatized/anxious/depressed teens, families and adults.
